1 Timothy 6:17-19 King James Version (KJV)
17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
1 Timothy 6:17-19
ECB 17 WARNING THE RICH
Evangelize them who are rich in this eon, that they neither be highminded nor hope in uncertain riches - but in the living Elohim who presents us richly to enjoy all; 18 to work good, to enrich in good works, to share well, to commune; 19 treasuring a good foundation for themselves to the about to be, to take hold on eternal life.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
17 Being rich are not sinful as some may think but putting those riches before the Lord is idolatry, it is common for those who are rich. Having received blessings from the Lord is not wrong, Job was rich but Job also had the Lord when he lost everything. Many who are rich would be prone to turn on the Lord when they lose everything because they hold their possessions closer to them then they did the Lord. We should give praise to the Lord no matter what we have, how much or how little.
18 We are to use what the Lord gives us to give Him glory. If the Lord blesses us then it is done not so we can keep our treasures but so we can help those who have need. The Lord does not expect us to help everyone ourselves because we can not help everyone alone even if we are rich it is the effort of the whole church and never just one person.
19 We are to be more concerned about the treasures we lay up in heaven then those we lay on earth, this does not mean we give all our money away to where we then need help to keep our home, we are to provide for our families but we do not need to live wastefully because we have so much.
