1 Timothy 5:17-20
KJV 17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. 19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. 20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
ECB 17 Deem the elders who preside well worthy of double honor, especially who labor in the word and doctrine. 18 For the scripture words, Muzzle not the ox that treads. And, The worker is worthy of his reward. 19
RESOLVING ACCUSATIONS
Receive no accusation against an elder unless except in front of two or three witnesses. 20 Reprove them who sin in sight of all so that the rest also awe.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
17 Those who have been put into place should be respected those who are over the church, Christ is always the one in control if this does not happen then the leadership is bad. To preach and is teach is not something everyone wants to do and also has a responsible to those who hear those preaching or teaching.
18 This verse here is used to say you say pay your pastor and those who come to preach, this does not say how much they are to get paid. They may be paid by man but they work for God by man, not work for man.
19 There may be people who try to cause trouble for the leaders of churches by spreading lies, we are to do this we others but it is important to do this with the leadership. The law requires at least two witnesses have to have the same story for it to be consider as truth. There may be the case where you catch them doing something that no one else does do not worry the truth will come out.
20 We are to out the sin so they can turn from it or allow their sins to have them leave the church until they are willing to give up their sinful lifestyles.
