Titus 1:7-9 King James Version (KJV)
7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
Titus 1:7-9 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
7 For an overseer, as God’s administrator, must be blameless, not arrogant, not hot-tempered, not addicted to wine, not a bully, not greedy for money, 8 but hospitable, loving what is good, sensible, righteous, holy, self-controlled, 9 holding to the faithful message as taught, so that he will be able both to encourage with sound teaching and to refute those who contradict it.

7 This is referring to mainly pastors but this could be anyone who is in a place to oversee the church, this could be something any teacher or leader should strive to be because of the role they are called. We can not be perfect and people may throw up lies or our past trying to blame us but we should not currently be walking in the way of sinful life. We should be humble seeking God for what we need and what we should do rather then think we ourselves have the ability or have been given the answer. We should have the ability both to show patience and not act in anger. We should not have addictions to wine or anything because this gets in the way of God using us. We should not bully but instead show love. We should seek God not the next dollar.
8 We should look to help and care for people. We should love God and love the things of the Lord, what is good. We should have control over our actions or better to say it we should submit to God’s control over our actions.
9 We have to stay true the truth of the bible and not waver from the truth, this does not mean there hasn’t been seasons of confusion or doubt but is to say we have learned to seek God and the truth from them. We are both to encourage and correct by scripture God is to convict be we are to be used to share His truth to help people into His will.
